Tips for the Perfect Holiday Engagement

The most thoughtful gifts are those that come from the heart. With the The holidays are usually filled with magic and family, and it’s the perfect time to pop the question. While 2020 has looked different for everyone, the holidays can still be a special time. If you’re planning to propose, here are some tips to make your holiday engagement extra memorable.

Find a spot that has history for you both

If you are partial to a particular spot, perhaps where you met or had your first date, returning to that location can be a beautiful part of your proposal. With social distancing measures, it’s perfect if the place is outdoors. Many people have a love of our beautiful mountains. If you and your spouse have a notable bond with our Alberta landscape, it can be an incredible backdrop for the moment and photos. Choosing a spot that is significant to you both is very thoughtful and will make your proposal that much more meaningful.

Decide if you want it in front of the family, or more of a private affair

Some people prefer to keep their proposals private and intimate, and others prefer to be in the company of family. Both ways can be thoughtful and remarkable. With the current social-distancing rules, proposing at an outdoor setting will allow you to share the moment with family and/or friends.

As long as it’s safe, see if someone can capture the moment

Many people choose to hire a professional photographer or have someone they can count on to take pictures of the moment. Suppose you’re proposing in the mountains or at an outdoor location. In that case, you will likely be able to have a professional photographer take photos of your moment. If you want the photos to be a surprise, you can have them hide, or a friend or family member can take photos from a distance.

Propose early on if its Christmas, later if New Years

Based on traditional holiday festivities, proposing on Christmas morning while opening presents can be exciting and unexpected. Alternatively, you could ‘ring’ in the New Year and pop the question when the clock strikes 12.  A couple of ways to make 2020 that much more memorable.
